Ottawa County sets 2018 budget

WEST OLIVE — Ottawa County approved its 2018 fiscal year budget at a county commissioner meeting on Thursday, Sept. 28.

The county’s fiscal year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30.

Commissioners approved a budget of $183,913,001, with $81,276,566 appropriated in the general fund, $94,580,802 appropriated in the special revenues fund, $5,120,457 appropriated in the debt services fund and $2,935,176 appropriated in the capital project funds.

The budget projects the county will bring in $51,004,136 in tax money for its 2018 general fund and $14,389,390 in charges for services. Those are the largest revenue generating items for the county’s general fund.

The county expects to pay $24,603,651 in salaries and wages from its general fund in 2018 and $14,099,348 in benefits. Those are the two largest expenditures in its 2018 general fund.
