After volunteering thousands of hours throughout the year, the North Ottawa Hospital Auxiliary made a donation Tuesday afternoon.

During their annual luncheon, the group donated $40,000 to the Grand Haven-based health system, which will specifically be used to purchase a video fluoroscopic swallowing device and a thyroid system.

Jackie Thoroughman, the auxiliary’s out-going president, noted the auxiliary has donated $1.5 million since it was formed 100 years ago.

The auxiliary also unveiled the commemorative dish towel to celebrate the hospital’s 100 years. Thoroughman designed the towel, which features the façade of the Hatton Memorial Hospital, Grand Haven Municipal Hospital and North Ottawa Community Hospital.

The commemorative dish towel is available for purchase in the hospital’s gift shop and at the Tri-Cities Historical Museum.
