Haven hockey splits weekend series

The Grand Haven-Spring Lake co-op hockey team split its weekend series Up North with Cheboygan and the Bay City Reps.

On Friday, the Buccaneers rattled off three goals in the second period to cruise to a 6-1 win over host Cheboygan.

Kyle Eveland tallied four goals and two assists to fuel the Bucs, while Trevor Kalis added one goal and one assist and Dylan Murak added two assists.

Tristen Goss, Ethan Pennington, Luke Rantanen and Jax Plumert each added one assist, while Zach Mitchell added one goal.

Adien Steele made 26 saves on 27 shots to record the win in net.

On Saturday, the Buccaneers couldn't manufacture enough of an attack to keep pace a talented Bay Reps squad in a 6-2 loss.

Jackson Ellis recorded a hat-trick to lead the Rep's offense, while Jacob Stevenson added two goals and one assist and Kaleb Miller added one goal and two assists.

Grand Haven is now 2-3 overall on the young season and will be back in action Dec. 14, as they host Byron Center at 7:30 p.m. at the Lakeshore Sports Centre.
