Police release name of man killed in Friday night crash

CROCKERY TWP. — Police have released the name of a Fruitport area man killed in a rollover crash Friday night on 120th Avenue.

Michael Haukom, 45, was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy south on 120th Avenue, when he lost control while driving near the Hatfield Airport, 18155 120th Ave.

Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly before 7:30 p.m. Friday.

An Ottawa County Sheriffs deputy told WZZM-TV that the car rolled over several times and was found upside down in a ditch.

Haukom was unresponsive and had to be extricated from the car by Crockery Township firefighters, said Sgt. Cal Keuning of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by North Ottawa Community Hospital paramedics.

The victim’s name was withheld until the family was notified.

The crash remains under investigation.
