ZEELAND TWP. — A Zeeland man died after being ejected from his vehicle early Friday morning on Chicago Drive west of 48th Avenue.

Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Matt Wildfong said that Dylan Compagner, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Emergency crews responded to the incident at 2:22 a.m. Another driver had come upon the crash, but had not witnessed it.

Wildfong said that the victim was driving a 2000 GMC Yukon west on Chicago Drive, ran off the road west of 48th Avenue, struck a guardrail and overturned. Compagner was ejected from the vehicle.

The broken guardrail ended up in the traffic lanes, causing the road to be closed in both directions, police said.
