ALLENDALE TWP. — Two people were injured in a rear-end crash Saturday morning on Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) at 96th Avenue.

Allendale Township firefighters and Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at about 8:30 a.m.

Police said a 2006 Mazda 6 driven by Timothy Keur, 34, of Marne, had stopped in the westbound lane to make a left turn onto 96th Avenue.

He was struck from behind by a 2003 Mazda 6 driven by Griffin Dwyer, 21, of Allendale, who was also westbound. Dwyer’s car then bounced off, went into the ditch and struck a utility pole, according to Sgt. Bob Ruster of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Dwyer was transported by Life Ambulance to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. He suffered a head injury, but was listed in stable condition, Ruster said.

Keur’s vehicle remained in the middle of the intersection. Keur also suffered a head injury. He was transported by Life Ambulance to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He also was in stable condition, Ruster said.

Lake Michigan Drive between 104th and 92nd Avenue was closed to traffic for about an hour after the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
