ALLENDALE TWP. — A 58-year-old Holland man is in critical condition following a car vs. tree crash late Saturday morning on Fillmore Street.

Emergency crews responded to Fillmore Street west of 92nd Avenue at about 11:20 a.m. Saturday.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies reported massive damage to the car upon arrival.

Allendale Township firefighters responded to help extricate the injured man.

Anthony Crowley was driving a 1998 Lincoln Town Car west on Fillmore Street when the car drifted off the right side of the road, said Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Bob Ruster. The vehicle re-entered the roadway, the driver over-compensated and the car went off the left side of the road and struck a tree head-on.

An ambulance transported him to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Ruster said that excess speed was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
