SPRING LAKE — A Spring Lake woman was hurt when two vehicles collided at a Spring Lake intersection at about 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said a silver 2014 Ford Escape was southbound on North Fruitport Road and turning east onto Savidge Street (M-104) when it crashed with a black 2007 Mercury Mountaineer at the intersection. Witnesses and police said the Mountaineer was eastbound on Savidge and ran a red light.

A passenger in the Escape, 56-year-old Mary Vic Cuison, suffered a broken collarbone. She was treated at the scene before being transported to Mercy Hospital in Muskegon, where she was listed in good condition Monday evening, said Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Escape, 63-year-old Mathew Brakora, also of Spring Lake, was not injured.

The driver of the Mountaineer, 36-year-old Thomas Meerman of Spring Lake, and a 3-year-old in the back seat, were also not injured.

Douglas said Meerman was cited for failing to stop at a red light.

“Alcohol was not a factor in this incident,” Douglas added.
