MARNE — A man and a woman suffered critical injuries when a car sideswiped their motorcycle Saturday evening on Arthur Street near 24th Avenue.

The names of all of those involved were not released pending family notification, said Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Douglas said that a 17-year-old Marne resident was driving a 2001 Chevy Blazer west on Arthur Street, passed a slower moving vehicle and did not see the eastbound motorcycle.

She tried to swerve off the road, but still sideswiped the motorcycle, Douglas said. The crash occurred at about 8:12 p.m.

The man driving the 2003 Yamaha motorcycle, a 48-year-old Comstock Park resident, suffered critical injuries and was air-lifted to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. His passenger, a 43-year-old Wyoming woman, also suffered critical injuries. Life Ambulance transported her to Butterworth Hospital.

The driver of the Blazer was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
