Police are seeking information on an attempted sexual assault that took place late Saturday night near the Grand Valley State University campus.

Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Matt Wildfong said that a 17-year-old woman was walking through the 48 West apartment complex at 10897 48th Avenue, at about 11 p.m., when she was accosted by three young men.

The men began pulling at her clothing and saying they wanted to have sex with her, Wildfong said. She said “no,” but they continued grabbing at her clothes until some other people walked into the area. The suspects then left the scene.

The men were described as college-age African American. One man was tall and stocky with his hair in dreadlocks. Another man sported a goatee, while the third man was tall with short hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 616-738-4022, or Silent Observer at 1-877-88 SILENT.
