SPRING LAKE TWP. — A teenage girl was injured in a two-vehicle crash late Friday afternoon on her way to a local high school football game.

The 16-year-old girl is a member of the Grand Haven High School marching band. She was driving west on Fruitport Road in Spring Lake Township, near the entrance to Rycenga Park, when her Mazda van was hit by a car backing out of a driveway.

The teen boy in the car, also 16, said he saw the van coming, but hit the gas instead of the brake and sped across the road in front of the van.

The girl reportedly suffered minor injuries in the crash.
