SPRING LAKE — A Spring Lake woman was hurt in a three-car crash Wednesday afternoon that also resulted in backing up M-104 traffic for nearly a mile.

The crash occurred at 3:50 p.m. on Savidge Street, near Williams Street, in Spring Lake.

A 2005 Subaru Forester and a 2016 Buick Cascada were westbound on Savidge and both had stopped for traffic when a third westbound car, a 2011 Audi, struck the Buick from behind. The impact of that crash pushed the Buick into the back of the Subaru.

Police said the driver of the Buick, 67-year-old Donna Veeck, was injured in the crash. She was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital in stable condition, said Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Audi, 75-year-old Patricia Huff of Spring Lake, was cited by police for the civil infraction of failing to stop in an assured clear distance, Austin said.

Huff and the Subaru driver, 18-year-old Benjamin Taylor of Fruitport, were not injured.

Eastbound traffic was backed up to the west end of the village for more than a half-hour after the crash. Westbound traffic moved through the area with a couple of stops for emergency vehicles.
