GH woman allegedly stabs victim in face

HOLLAND — Grand Haven resident Lia Elaine Thomas, 18, has been arraigned in 58th District Court on a felonious assault charge after allegedly stabbing another woman in the face.

Holland Department of Public Safety deputies responded to a call of a stabbed person in the 200 block of West 14th Street at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. The victim took herself to Holland Hospital with a laceration on her face.

Police went to both the hospital and the home where the incident occurred. They determined that Thomas was the suspect and arrested her.

Thomas has been charged with felonious assault and was arraigned on Monday.

The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, and they were treated at the hospital.

Thomas will appear again in court on Friday, Dec. 1, for a probable cause conference in front of Judge Susan Jonas. Her bond was set at a 10 percent of $30,000. She remains in custody at the Ottawa County Jail. Thomas does not have any previous criminal charges.

This is the second knife stabbing in the 200 block of West 14th Street in as many months.

On Monday, Oct. 9, 37-year-old Holland woman Crystal Latham was found dead at a home in the 200 block of West 14th Street after her boyfriend stabbed her multiple times, then fled the scene. The suspect, Keith Williams, has been charged with open murder, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison if he’s found guilty

Officials say that while the incidents were close in proximity, but are not related.
