The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is hosting Shop with a Sheriff on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Ottawa County deputies and Grand Haven firefighters will help the kids fulfill Christmas wishes at the ninth annual benefit. The Sheriff’s Office partners with Wal-Mart, Meijer, Grand Haven Area Public Schools and Grand Haven Township Fire/Rescue to pair less-fortunate local kids with deputies and firefighters for holiday shopping.
The deputies and firefighters will help pick out the perfect gifts for the moms, dads and siblings on each child's gift-giving list. They select a little something special for each child shopper, too.
All of this is “on the house,” thanks to the generosity of the local Meijer and Wal-Mart stores and other donations.
While donations for Shop with a Sheriff are secured for this year, those wishing to help local kids can bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office headquarters in West Olive for Toys for Tots by Dec. 15. The drop-off box is accessible to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
