Fruitport jogger killed in Saturday afternoon crash

Update (Sunday, 6:15 p.m.) Police have released the name of a 39-year-old Fruitport woman killed in a crash late Saturday afternoon near the Fruitport Middle School.

Courtney Marie Frazine was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle while jogging.

The 18-year-old female driver, a resident of Norton Shores, is cooperating with investigators as the cause of the crash is determined, police said.

Any witnesses to the crash who have not spoken to police are asked to contact the Fruitport Police Department at 231-865-8477.

A 39-year-old Fruitport woman died late Saturday afternoon when struck by a car while jogging along East Pontaluna Road near North Point Drive.

Police said the woman was jogging on the south shoulder of Pontaluna Road near North Point Drive at about 4:12 p.m. That’s when a westbound vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old female, lost control and hit the jogger.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries and released from a local hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
