SUV flips on drawbridge

Update (4:15 p.m.) Isaac Lewis, 43, of Muskegon Heights, was the driver of the SUV.

The man was ticketed for careless driving, no driver’s license, no insurance and failure to transfer registration plates, police said.

Update (10:35 a.m.) - A male driver of an SUV suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle rollover crash that occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday on northbound U.S. 31 on the drawbridge.

According to police: Witnesses said the vehicle was fishtailing as it went through the Jackson Street intersection, did a complete 360-degree spin, and then hit the median divider wall before flipping over and landing upright in the far right lane.

The man was driving too fast for the snow road conditions, police said.

Am ambulance transported him to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. The man’s name was not immediately available.

One lane of traffic was getting through the area during the incident.

Update (10:25 a.m.) – The vehicle has been removed and all lanes of traffic are now open.

Emergency officials are on the scene of an SUV that flipped on the drawbridge around 10 a.m., shutting down the northbound lanes of U.S. 31.
