HOLLAND TWP. — An Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries when another car struck his work vehicle on New Year’s Eve on Holland’s north side.

Deputy Mac O’Connor was treated at Holland Hospital and released.

The crash occurred at about 5:43 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Lakewood Boulevard and Douglas Street in Holland Township.

O’Connor was eastbound on Lakewood in his Sheriff’s Office Ford Explorer. He had a green light and was passing through the Douglas intersection when his vehicle was struck behind the driver’s door by a 2006 Dodge Stratus.

The driver of the Stratus, a 37-year-old Holland woman, and her 2-year-old passenger were not injured in the crash.

The woman was arrested for child endangerment and operating while impaired. Her name was not released pending arraignment.
