SPRING LAKE TWP. — A Muskegon woman was injured when her car hit the median guardrail and bounced across southbound U.S. 31 at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said that Tawne Benton, 31, was southbound on U.S. 331 in a 2004 Dodge Stratus. She lost control when her car went into some slush on the left shoulder, struck the guardrail and came to rest in the ditch on the opposite side of the road.

Emergency crews carried the driver on a stretcher to an ambulance.

Her injuries were non-life-threatening, said Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Steve Austin.

Spring Lake Township firefighters and North Ottawa Community Hospital paramedics also responded to the scene.
