HOLLAND TWP. — A 44-year-old Norton Shores man was in stable condition at North Ottawa Community Hospital after rear-ending a semi-truck Thursday morning in Holland Township.

Christopher Crozier was driving south on U.S. 31 and nearing the James Street intersection at about 5:41 a.m. when he noticed the tail lights of the semi moments before rear-ending the bigger vehicle.

The driver of the semi — Wayne Bechan, 63, of Ludington — said he was just starting to accelerate after the light turned green. His cab was under the light when he felt something hit the truck, according to Sgt. Cal Keuning of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Bechan was not injured.

Responding to the crash were the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Holland/Park Township E-Unit, Holland Township firefighters and AMR Ambulance.
