ROBINSON TWP. — M-231 between M-104 in Crockery Township and Lincoln Street in Robinson Township was closed to traffic in both directions for nearly an hour Tuesday evening due to a crash on the highway.

Police said a Spring Lake woman was driving north on M-231 when she attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control of her 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The SUV went across the southbound lane, struck and bounced off a guardrail, then rolled over several times. The vehicle landed on its side on the highway.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened north of Sleeper Street in Robinson Township at 6:13 p.m.

The driver, 23-year-old Skylar Brock, was not wearing a seat belt, said Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. She was removed from her overturned vehicle by other motorists and treated at the scene by Robinson Township firefighters, Douglas said.

Brock was taken by a North Ottawa Community Hospital ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Muskegon, where she was listed in good condition Tuesday night, Douglas said.

The weather, road conditions, speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, Douglas said, which remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

The highway was reopened to traffic shortly after 7 p.m.
