Police said a 51-year-old Grand Haven man has been taken into custody on domestic violence charges a day after pursuit of the suspect was shut down.

Grand Haven public safety officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Fulton Avenue at about 4:40 p.m. Thursday to investigate a reported domestic disturbance. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived, Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke said.

Shortly after that, officers observed the suspect driving in the area and a brief vehicle pursuit ensued. The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns, Hawke said.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident at about 11 a.m. Friday at Sluka Field.

The suspect is being lodged at the Ottawa County Jail pending a review of the case by the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office.
