SPRING LAKE — Firefighters responded to a call of a pickup truck “fully involved” in fire shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Billowing black smoke from the truck fire was visible from the top of the M-104 bridge on the west end of Spring Lake.

The truck was parked just a few feet away from a home at 744 Summer St. in Spring Lake.

Firefighters had the blaze extinguished within minutes of their arrival — but, by then, the heat of the blaze had melted siding on the house.

Spring Lake Fire Chief Brian Sipe said the truck was a diesel and was plugged into an outlet at the house. He said they would be investigating to determine whether or not the cause of the fire was electrical.

Firefighters removed the melted siding from the house to make sure there was no fire behind it.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire.
