PARK TWP. — A West Olive teen was sent to the hospital after he drove his car into a mobile home Friday afternoon, police said.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Joseph Chapman, 17, drove off the road and struck a home in the Holiday West Mobile Home Park in Park Township at about 3:30 p.m., said Sgt. Cal Keuning of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Chapman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Keuning said. The boy was injured and was transported by ambulance to Holland Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The impact of the crash lifted the home off its foundation and caused a gas leak, Keuning said. A SEMCO Gas crew was called in to shut off the gas.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
