One dead, three injured in 3-car crash on Lake Michigan Drive

Update (6:43 p.m.) The Michigan Department of Transportation has reported that all lanes are now open on M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive), both eastbound and westbound, between 136th Avenue and M-231 in Robinson Township following a three-car crash.

Update (4:50 p.m.) Capt. John Wolffis of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one person is dead following a three-car crash at M-45 and 128th Avenue in Robinson Township.

Wolffis said two other occupants of that vehicle are in critical condition. Both were taken to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, one by ambulance and the other by the AeroMed ambulance helicopter.

The female driver of a second car was taken to an area hospital, while the female driver of a third vehicle was not injured. 

Update (4:25 p.m.) AeroMed has left the scene of the crash with one patient aboard.

Traffic remains blocked on M-45; vehicles are being diverted at M-231 to the east and 136th Avenue to the west. 

Update (4:10 p.m.) There are several injuries associated with this crash, which involves three vehicles.

ROBINSON TWP. — Police are on the scene of a multiple vehicle crash at M-45 and 128th Avenue on Monday afternoon, May 7. 

The crash has halted traffic in both directions on M-45, and AeroMed has been called to the scene. 

A Tribune reporter is en route and will provide more information as it becomes available.
