According to Grand Haven Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke, several residents reported receiving scam phone calls Monday, June 4. Some of the calls have displayed a New York area code.
The caller tells the recipient that a warrant has been issued for their arrest by local law enforcement. A time frame is given for the recipient to call back and make payment to avoid arrest.
“Unless you know for sure who you are dealing with, don’t give your personal information or bank account numbers over the phone,” Hawke said in a press release.
