Two injured in shooting near GVSU campus

ALLENDALE — Two people were injured in a shooting late Tuesday night in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Grand Valley State University.

The male victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Chris Dill of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. One refused treatment and the other was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

The victims’ names were not released.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies and GVSU public safety officers responded to the shooting at Copper Beech Townhomes, 10295 48th Ave., at about 11:45 p.m. There they found the victims, but the shooter was unknown at the time.

The investigation is continuing.
