One driver was injured when a trailer struck her car Saturday morning on Lake Michigan Drive just west of 104th Avenue.

An ambulance transported Barbara Groenendyke, 56, of Comstock Park, to a hospital following the 10:36 a.m. crash.

Groenendyke was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu east on M-45, when her car was hit by a utility trailer, according to Sgt. Matt Wildfong of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Dale Vereeke, 54, of Allendale, was driving west on the two-lane highway in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. He was hauling a utility trailer holding an aluminum boat, Wildfong said.

The trailer separated from the car, crossed the center line and struck Groenendyke’s car.

Wildfong said the trailer was properly hooked up to the vehicle, but the trailer broke and caused the crash.
