Classes offered for civilian response to active shooter

WEST OLIVE — The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events class on three different occasions over the next few months.

Classes are planned for 7-10 p.m. on Sept. 17 and Nov. 1, and 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 15. All three will take place at the Ottawa County Fillmore Administration Building, 12220 Fillmore St., West Olive.

Instructors will provide strategies, guidance and a plan for surviving an active shooter event.

There is no cost, but registration is required. You may register online at www.miottawa.org/AdminEventReg/loadCalendar.action.

Since the beginning of 2018, nearly 700 people have attended the classes.
