A Saugatuck man involved in a single-vehicle crash last week in Ottawa County’s Port Sheldon Township has died from his injuries.

Troy Lange, 49, was driving a 2010 Toyota SUV north on Lakeshore Drive at 5:10 p.m. Sept. 14 when he crashed. At the time, Lange was pulling a utility trailer when he lost control of the SUV, which had left the roadway and struck a tree south of Inland Drive.

Lange was pinned in his SUV for a short time until he was extricated by Port Sheldon Township firefighters. He was then taken by AMR Ambulance to Holland Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office was contacted Friday, Sept. 21, by the medical examiner, who said Lange died due to complications from the injuries he suffered in the crash.

Sgt. Michael Vandenbosch said alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
