OLIVE TWP. — A 59-year-old Grand Haven man was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital following a van versus motorcycle crash late Saturday afternoon in Olive Township.

Brian Garbarino suffered serious injuries in the 4:10 p.m. crash, according to Sgt. Brian Buter of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said that Garbarino was driving a motorcycle south on 120th Avenue south of Polk Street, gaining on a southbound van in front of him.

The driver of the van, Camerina Gayton, 35, of Holland, slowed her 2008 Grand Caravan and was turning into a driveway when the vehicles collided.

Garbarino was thrown about 25 yards into a lawn, Buter said.

The motorcyclist was transported by Aeromed helicopter to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

The driver of the van was not injured.
