EGELSTON TWP. — A $300 reward is being offered for information that assists in identifying the person or persons involved in an arson a month ago in Muskegon County’s Egelston Township.

The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help as it continues the investigation into the Oct. 20 fire at 858 Macintosh Lane in the Apple Carr Trailer Park.

Deputies and Egelston Township firefighters responded to a fire at the residence at about 11:50 p.m. The occupants were able to escape and the fire was quickly extinguished, although it did substantial damage.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored SUV stop at the residence. A person exited the vehicle and was observed throwing a burning object under the home, causing it to catch on fire, police said.

At the scene, investigators found a homemade sign containing a message to the victims.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office at 231-724-6658, Silent Observer at 231-722-7463 or online at www.SilentObservermuskegon.com.
