GEORGETOWN TWP. — A Hudsonville woman was injured when her car slid off the road and into a deep drainage ditch, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Sharon Boersma, 62, suffered head and leg injuries in the 6:33 p.m. crash on Saturday. Life Ambulance transported her to Metro Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Police said that Boersma was driving a 2018 Ford Escape north on 40th Avenue south of Port Sheldon Street, when she lost control of her vehicle in the snow and slush and left the roadway. The car dropped into the drainage ditch containing five feet of water.

Georgetown Township firefighters extricated Boersma from the ditch.

The crash is still under investigation.
