Traffic was slowed to one lane after a single-car crash on southbound U.S. 31 at the Grand Haven drawbridge Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. It was raining steadily at the time.

Police said that a 71-year-old Spring Lake woman was driving a Porsche south across the bridge when she lost control of the car on the wet roadway, spun out and hit the guardrail.

The woman complained of chest pains from the deployment of the car’s air bag, but she planned to seek her own treatment, said Sgt. Lee Adams of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety.

No tickets were issued for the crash.

All lanes of traffic were reopened at 2:35 p.m.
