Shots fired in road rage incident near Coopersville

POLKTON TWP. — The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a weapons complaint that occurred near Coopersville, south of I-96, at 9:08 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim advised police that while driving east on I-96, a vehicle was tailgating him. After both vehicles exited onto southbound 68th Avenue, there was a confrontation just south of the exit ramp. As the victim was driving away, he told police that he heard two gun shots.

The suspect vehicle left north on 68th Avenue after the incident.

Two bullet holes were located in the rear of the victim’s vehicle. There was no one injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as a male; 6 feet, 4 inches tall with a stocky build; and a dark mustache and goatee. He was driving a new dark-colored pickup truck.

The Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone with information about this incident to call Ottawa County Central Dispatch or Silent Observer at 877-887-4536.
