Two people were killed in crashes in Allegan County and Barry County Sunday afternoon.

Michigan State Police said two vehicles were involved in a crash on M-37 Highway south of 108th Street in Barry County around 2 p.m.

A 19-year-old Middleville man lost control of his Ford Explorer and crossed the centerline. His car collided into a Chrysler Town and Country mini van, which was driven by a 76-year-old Battle Creek man.

The driver of the Chrysler died at the scene of the crash. A 77-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl were passengers in his vehicle, and they were brought to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that the crash was caused by speed. M-37 was shutdown for about two hours because of the incident.

Michigan State Police are also investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Allegan County around 3:40 p.m.

A 32-year-old man was driving a Dodge SUV on 20th Street north of 128th Avenue when he lost control of his car, drove of the road and hit a tree. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The Hopkins man died at the scene. No one else was in the car.

The crash remains under investigation.
