A fire at a Grand Haven laundromat was quickly extinguished Thursday evening.

Officers from the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety responded to the fire at BCS Laundry, 947 Robbins Road, at 6:20 p.m. The first arriving firefighters observed smoke emitting from the roof and from the interior of the laundromat.

All patrons had safely evacuated the business and there were no reported injuries, said Capt. Clint Holt.

An interior fire attack was conducted and firefighters located the origin of the fire to be in one of the clothes dryers. They also determined that the fire had extended into the attic space above the dryer.

After the blaze was extinguished, the building was cleared of smoke.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, Holt said.

GHDPS was assisted at the scene by the Grand Haven Township firefighters and North Ottawa Community Hospital paramedics.
