SPRING LAKE — A 13-year-old Spring Lake resident was struck by a car and injured Thursday morning.

Police were dispatched to the car-pedestrian incident on Savidge Street, near Prospect Street in the village, at 7:20 a.m.

The preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that a 41-year-old Spring Lake Township man was driving his 2011 Subaru west on Savidge when the teen stepped into the roadway and was struck by the car, said Sgt. Chris Dill of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred in the dark as rain was falling, and both the driver and pedestrian reported not seeing each other prior to the crash.

The pedestrian was transported to Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. Dill said the teen was in stable condition with a possible pelvis injury.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
