Emergency crews responded to the area of Leonard Road and 40th Avenue at 11:08 a.m. The original call was that a car struck a pedestrian, but police said there was no evidence of another vehicle being involved.
Life Ambulance transported the seriously injured man to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
“The patient was wearing a bike helmet at the time of the crash,” said Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Brian Buter. “It was determined that the injury could have been far worse had he not been.”
Wright-Tallmadge Fire Rescue also responded to the scene.
