Police seek suspect in armed robbery of party store

HOLLAND TWP. — Detectives from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an armed robbery that occurred today (Wednesday) at a Holland-area party store.

At about 12:25 p.m., a lone suspect entered the 136th Avenue One-Stop store at 690 136th Ave., Holland Township, and demanded cash. The suspect was in possession of a handgun threatened the 33-year-old female clerk.

There were no shots fired and no injuries were reported.

The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and left the store in an unknown direction, said Capt. Mark Bennett of the Sheriff’s Office.

As of mid-afternoon, deputies and detectives remained on the scene collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

The suspect is described as a black male appropriately 6 feet tall with an average build. He was wearing dark clothing. No vehicle was seen at the time of the robbery.
