HOLLAND — A 26-year-old Park Township man was arrested Sunday morning after a disturbance at a Holland church.

The Holland Department of Public Safety responded at about 10 a.m. to a report of suspicious activity at Shekinah Revival Ministries, 1941 Washington Ave.

Security personnel from the church called 911 and reported a man in the building had made a comment about having a shotgun in his vehicle, and he was headed to another church. Police officers found the suspect vehicle in the parking lot and were informed by dispatchers that they confirmed by phone that the suspect was seen inside the church.

Officers went into the church, located the suspect in the balcony and took him into custody. Officers also located a shotgun and ammunition in the suspect vehicle that was in the parking lot.

There were several hundred people in attendance at the church at the time.

The suspect is identified as Joshua Dean Foster, 26, of Park Township.

Police said Foster was arrested at the scene Sunday morning and charged Monday by the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office with one count each of carrying a concealed weapon (in vehicle), habitual offender third offense, no insurance, driving while license suspended and unlawful use of a license plate. He was arraigned in 58th District Court and bonded out of the Holland police lockup.
