Police extinguish boat fire at Grand Isle Marina

Officers from the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety responded to a reported boat fire at Grand Isle Marina, 1 Grand Isle Drive, at 2:56 p.m. Wednesday.

The boat was moored at the marina’s south dock. The fire was located in the boat’s rear engine compartment, and it also caused damage to the cabin, said Grand Haven Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Grand Haven department was assisted by personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard Station Grand Haven and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office marine patrol.
