OLIVE TWP. — A 4-year-old boy was run over by a tractor in Olive Township on Monday night, police said.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were sent to a farm in the 7500 block of 104th Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. The investigation at the scene revealed that a 34-year-old man was driving the tractor at the time of the incident. He was farming his land with the child riding on the tractor when the child fell and was then driven over by the tractor, said Sgt. Rick Sykes.

AMR paramedics arrived on the scene and started treatment. The Aero Med helicopter arrived a short time later and transported the child to Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids.

As of late Monday night, the boy was in stable condition.

Names were not released.

The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
