Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2326 and American Legion Post 28 paid an unexpected visit to state Rep. Amanda Price, R-Park Township, this morning.

The two organizations made a surprise award presentation to Price’s office hours at the Coffee Grounds, 41 Washington Ave. in Grand Haven, for her help with the Sgt. Henry Plant non-motorized path.

The pathway was dedicated during a special ceremony in October 2015. It is named for Plant, the first Medal of Honor recipient in Ottawa County.

The Sgt. Henry E Plant Memorial Grand River Bridge Non-Motorized Pathway was made possible in part with funding awarded by the Michigan Department of Transportation’s Transportation Alternative Program. Dedication of the pathway in honor of Plant was made possible by Henry E. Plant Camp 3, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War; VFW Post 2326; American Legion Post 28; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 1200; Grand Haven Fraternal Order of Eagles 925; Knights of Columbus 2975 George J McCarthy Council Grand Haven/Spring Lake; Ottawa County; and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
