POLKTON TWP. — A 16-year-old Muskegon County boy was injured Monday night when he lost control of his snowmobile in Ottawa County’s Polkton Township.

The crash occurred at about 5:23 p.m. in the 5700 block of Roosevelt Street.

Police said the teen was riding a snowmobile in a field with several other people. He lost control after hitting a large amount of dirt or ice, causing his snowmobile to overturn, and he was ejected from the machine, said Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

The Ravenna resident, whose name was withheld because he is a juvenile, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was treated at the scene and released to his parents.

Alcohol was not a factor, Douglas said. The crash is still under investigation.
