CHESTER TWP. — A 24-year-old Conklin woman was killed and her passenger seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash late Saturday night on 24th Avenue at Harding Street.

Bobbie Jo Bridges died at the scene of the 11 p.m. crash, said Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Her passenger, Dane Hinkley, 32, also of Conklin, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He was transported by Aero Med helicopter to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Police said Bridges was driving a 2001 Ford Expedition south on 24th Avenue when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed the road, overturned and struck a large tree.

She was pinned inside the vehicle for an extended amount of time before being freed by Chester and Wright/Tallmadge township firefighters.

Hinkley was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, Douglas said.

The crash remains under investigation.
