Community caroling

FERRYSBURG – William Ferry Park was ablaze with a bonfire Saturday evening when Santa rolled in on a fire truck, sirens blaring.

But there was no emergency here. Quite the contrary.

All was calm. And all was bright.

Fire-goers sang, sipped hot chocolate and downed doughnuts during the annual Ferrysburg Carol Sing.

Nicole Burns of Grand Haven said she and her family have been attending every year for the last several years.

“I really like all the carols, the big fire and Santa,” Burns said. “It's very Christmassy.”

Lynn Gibson of Ferrysburg sang carols with her family.

“We love to come every year,” she said.

Ferrysburg City Councilwoman Kathleen Kennedy attended with her 3-year-old grandaughter, Giavanna Bishop.

“I love it,” Kennedy said. “It's great for the community to gather for this.”
