SPRING LAKE — A new American flag now flies outside the American House Lloyds Bayou residence.

After the housing community’s flag was damaged during the winter, the Sgt. Alvin Jonker VFW Post 2326 donated the new flag and held a special ceremony for it Friday morning.

The post’s Honor Guard will return to host a Flag Day ceremony for residents in June, said Brooke Morey, life enrichment director at American House Lloyds Bayou.

After Friday’s ceremony, VFW Cmdr. Ted Raggl told the group of residents who gathered that it was an honor to donate and raise the flag.

“I’m glad to see people flying flags,” added Al Schmidt, commander of the post’s Honor Guard.
