Name of organization: Tri-Cities Kiwanis (plus Tri-Cities Kiwanis Foundation, our 501(c)(3) organization)

Number of members: 37

Year established: The Grand Haven Kiwanis was originally chartered March 13, 1941; and dissolved Jan. 28, 2003. Tri-Cities Kiwanis was chartered Sept. 27, 2004.

When and where you meet: Every Wednesday at noon, upstairs at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 20 N. Second St., Grand Haven.

Mission statement: Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children.

Tell us what you do for the community: Tri-Cities Kiwanis supports children's programs; namely pediatric health programs, literacy and programs for special-needs students.

Do you host any community events? Tri-Cities Kiwanis has hosted the Santa House annually and sponsored community events hosted by other organizations.

Member benefits: Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members create service projects (or partner with existing projects) and raise funds for our communities. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. Kiwanis clubs focus on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time.

How to join: Visit a meeting, or contact us through our website for more information.

Website: TriCitiesKiwanis.org

Contact information: Tri-Cities Kiwanis, P.O. Box 571, Grand Haven, MI 49417; or email [email protected]

Auxiliary: There is no longer an auxiliary arm of Kiwanis; women have been equal members since 1987. However, Kiwanis has several "service leadership programs," which are service clubs for children, young adults and disabled adults. Tri-Cities Kiwanis is proud to sponsor the Aktion Club of Camp Extraordinaire, a club for special-needs adults. Learn more here: http://tricitieskiwanis.org/Page/38091.
