Volunteers needed for weekend shifts

Volunteers have helped the new play space in Mulligan’s Hollow take shape throughout the week.

Overall, the project to build a new Imagination Station is going well, said Reimagine Project Co-Chairperson Kristi Streng. On Friday, with the end of “Build Week” nearing, Streng said they’re looking for volunteers to help construct the play space over the weekend — whether it’s for a few hours or an entire day.

Skilled volunteers and individuals who can help assist them are especially needed.

“We just really need all hands on deck right now,” Streng said.

The volunteers have experienced a variety of weather throughout the week, but they have persevered. The week started with a hot and sunny Tuesday followed by a rainy Wednesday.

Despite downpours and wind kicking up sawdust, Streng said the volunteers continue to smile, and that tells her they’re there because they want to be there.

“That speaks to who Grand Haven is,” Streng said.
