More than 20 vendors are participating in the Have a Heart for Kids event slated for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 1015 S. Beacon Blvd. The goal of the event is to bring resources and families with children with disabilities and special needs together, said Aleece Passow, a physical therapist and clinical director for the North Ottawa Community Health System’s rehabilitation department, which is powered by Generation Care.
Among some of the vendors will be medical equipment specialists, Grand Haven Area Public Schools’ Great Start Readiness Program and a therapy dog. North Ottawa’s physical, occupation and speech therapists will also be on site that day.
There will be a variety of activities and games for families to participate in as they meet with vendors and other families.
“It’s just a fun family event,” Passow said.
While some activities will be outdoors, depending on the weather, most will be indoors.
Last year, about 100 families participated, as well as vendors and several therapy animals. Passow said she enjoys seeing children interacting with animals as well as other children.
“It’s all about the kids,” she said.
